Join us sundays at 10am

we exist to see the salt lake valley saturated with the good news of jesus christ.

Our mission is to see every man, woman, and child have a daily encounter with Jesus in word and deed throughout the Salt Lake Valley, leading to new churches planted and gospel saturation.

our values
Church of the Valley is marked by our commitment to God and each other. We hold these values at the heart of our gospel-centered community.

the message of God
The “good news” of the gospel is that God has come and accomplished salvation for you and me. Salvation is not just an eternal reality but is also a now reality that God works and declares in and through us. The gospel is God’s message that He has done all that needs to be done for us to be brought back into relationship with Him. We can sum up the message of God in this way: the gospel is that God Himself has come to rescue and renew creation in and through the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. The gospel allows us to have right standing with God, not by our efforts, not by our works, not by our skill, but by Jesus alone. The gospel is God’s message to us—and it is not just a door we enter into for salvation, but the path on which we journey to thrive within the kingdom and see transformation within our lives and the lives of our neighbors. The gospel is central to all that we are and the power for all that we do. The motivations behind Church of the Valley's vision, structure, identity, and rhythms all flow from the gospel.

the power of God
We don’t just believe that God is alive, but we live in the reality that God is present, active, involved, and at work in and through the church. God’s miraculous displays of provision, healing, and power were written for us to learn the character and nature of God. These weren’t just for us to know who God is but to live in the reality that He is the same God who’s active and powerfully present today. In Jesus’ ascension, He told the disciples to wait for the power of the Holy Spirit before they were to do anything. The Bible speaks of the Holy Spirit as a gift and a helper. We seek to be responsive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and empowerment in our lives. Effective ministry and spiritual growth only occur under the empowering presence and submission to the Holy Spirit. We set aside regular times to actively listen and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in our life and we actively ask and seek opportunities for God’s power to be on display.

the family of God
In light of the gospel, we are given a new identity as adopted sons and daughters of God. We are brought into God’s family and we are spiritual family together united in God’s perfect Son, Jesus Christ. God is forming a people for Himself that live together in community as a spiritual family. This community/family in the Bible was called "the church." The Bible illustrates that the church is a people, not a place. These people gather to pray for one another, encourage one another, exhort one another, bless one another, teach one another, and live on mission together. We believe that life in family as community is the most effective means of making disciples and shaping people by the gospel. We want to be a family made up of God’s people who care for one another in such a way that our city will know who Jesus is by our love for one another. As individuals who have experienced the grace of the gospel, we make room for people’s faults and allow others to live open and authentic lives as our spiritual family. Striving to live as a family in a culture that values individualism challenges us to reorient our lives around others.

the mission of God
God is a God who is on mission. He not only created the world, but He has a purpose and intention to see us flourish as His image-bearers as well as the flourishing of all His creation. From the beginning through the middle and to the end of the Bible is a story of God’s mission towards and within His creation. Jesus was sent from heaven as a missionary to the world, and He sends us out as missionaries to saturate the world with the good news of who He is, what He’s done, what He is doing, and what He will do. Just as Jesus was a friend of sinners, we long to be known as “friends” to our city. We live within the mission of God as missionaries not as an additional task we add on to our already busy lives but with gospel-intentionality as we go about our daily lives, schedules, and rhythms. As Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “your kingdom come,” we are participating in the kingdom being present all throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Praying, seeking, and working to see people come to know Jesus, disciples equipped, and new churches planted all for the good of our neighbor—in worship of God and for His glory alone.

the beauty of God
We are a people that are learning and growing in beholding the Lord in His wonder and being in awe of Him in every domain of life. We see God’s beauty exemplified in His character and trinitarian being that is put on display in the tangible person of Jesus. God’s beautiful nature radiates throughout all of creation and into the lives of all who live as we see His colorful creativity and grand majesty on display in creation, work, art, architecture, culture, and more. We live in light of God’s beauty and are commissioned to express that beauty in creativity and design within our lives, in our groups, in our structures, and in our spaces as a church. We want to live with eyes wide open to His beauty on display in, through, and around us every day.
